About Me

Hi, my name is Morten Christiansen and I'm your host. I recently graduated as a Software Engineer and Master of Science from Aalborg University in Denmark. Having experimented with starting my own company during the first 6 months after getting my degree, I'm now looking for a job. As it turns out it's not that easy to start out on your own - especially with a recession and a rather limited network.

I mostly work with C# but occasionally dabble in other areas when the need arises. Recently I've been doing a lot of work with web development using technologies including CSS, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and ASP.NET (Web Forms as well as MVC). For more details on the types of stuff I work on feel free to explore the site.

Without Precedence

Morten Christiansen

Naming websites is hard. After much deliberation I came up with the phrase 'Without Precedence', a term which speaks well and which does not suggest any specific theme for the site. It is a place for me to share my thoughts on subjects regarding my craft as well as to present the various coding projects I work on in my spare time.

This version of the website is the second, since my hosting company went belly up in December 2008. It seemed a good occasion to rebuild the site from scratch since the original code base, being my first attempt at PHP, was getting quite painful to look at, let alone maintain.

Why do I have this site?

I was inspired by Jeff Atwood, one of my programming heroes, who always promotes the awesomeness of having your own blog. His blog, as well as the blogs of others, have given me a much broader perspective on the business as a whole and, therefore, I figured I should give my contribution back to this growing pool of knowledge. In addition, having a sort of technical diary will also give me an overview of my current and previous work.
